December to April: dry, sunny weather with smaller, clean waves; the most accessible season for beginners and intermediates.
May to November: larger, more powerful surf; expect rain and fewer crowds. Great season for Pavones and the Osa Peninsula with longer-period southwest swell.
Caribbean coast
December to March: main surf season, with short-period but often punchy swell and favourable winds in the right spots
