Costa Rica
One of the longest left-hand point breaks on the planet, with rides up to 700 metres. Deep in southern Costa Rica, close to the Panama border, with jungle pressing to the shoreline. Few places feel this far from everywhere else.
Best time to surf in Pavones
May to October: prime season, with reliable south and south-west swell bringing the most size and longest lines.
November to April: smaller and less dependable overall, though still surfable on the right pulses.
