September to November: the sweet spot, with warm water lingering after summer, building autumn swell, cleaner conditions, and fewer crowds.
December to April: the most powerful and consistent season, with regular North Atlantic swell. It is bigger, colder, and sometimes stormier; best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers.
May to September: mellower and more beginner-friendly, with smaller waves, warm weather, and long days, though the town and beaches get busy in July and August.
