A small village at the southern tip of Costa Rica, near the Panama border and just beyond Pavones. Reef and beach breaks, fewer people in the water, and jungle running all the way to the shoreline make it feel genuinely off the beaten track.
Best time to surf in Punta Banco
May to October: prime season, with reliable south and south-west swell bringing the most size and longest lines to this coast.
November to April: smaller and less dependable overall, though still surfable on the right pulses.
