April to October: the main season, with stronger Indian Ocean swell and cleaner dry-season winds. November to March: smaller waves, lighter winds, and fewer crowds.
Sri Lanka
October to April: the south coast is at its best, with cleaner conditions and the most reliable surf. May to September: the season shifts to the east coast, especially around Arugam Bay.
East Asia
August to December: the prime window, with typhoon swell bringing the most power and consistency. January to March: still works in the right regions, but becomes less uniformly reliable overall.
